Cruise banned from filming due to religion
Published Tuesday, Jun 26 2007, 13:06 BST | By Matthew Houghton

The German defence ministry said that Scientology masquerades as a religion in order to make money and that leaders of the Church reject it.
They told the BBC that the banning was due to the fact that Cruise "publicly professed to being a member of the Scientology cult".
Scientology has been monitored for some time in Germany because it is believed that it acts "against the free democratic order".
However, Tom Cruise's producing partner Paula Wagner defended him, saying: "Personal beliefs have absolutely no bearing on the movie's plot or themes."
