The town won the privilege after it submitted a video showing a Homer Simpson look-a-like from the area chasing a huge doughnut around the village.
It also showed similarities with the cartoon Springfield by having a nuclear power plant in the area.
Matt Groening, the creator of the animation, originally chose the name Springfield because it is the most common name in America.
The New England town in Vermont beat thirteen other Springfields in Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, Ohio, Oregon and Tennessee to win the prize.
The event will be taking place on July 21.
