Ricci found 'Black Snake Moan' daunting

Christina Ricci has revealed that Black Snake Moan was her most challenging movie to date.
The American actress took on the role of Rae in the Craig Brewer-directed film; a woman who is addicted to sex as a result of sexual abuse she experienced as a child. Ricci has admitted that shooting the movie was a daunting prospect; she was required to be chained to a radiator while wearing underwear in several scenes.
"In the beginning, I was really blinded by my passion for the project, but then there was one day before I left to go to Memphis when it sort of felt like you've gotten all the way up to the high dive board and you've got to jump off," Ricci told Courier Mail. "That day I thought, 'I don't want to do this, I'm really scared'.
"It was a moment of, 'I'm going to be half-naked for the next three months and I'm going to be doing these really intense emotional scenes and screaming and crying a lot and I'll be living with this character's anxieties and fears and painful memories'. That's right before you kind of hold your nose and jump - that's a really vulnerable kind of feeling."
However, Ricci has no regrets about taking on the role, as her experiences on set have changed her approach to acting.
"I really was compelled to fully dive in and do tonnes of research and really understand what I was doing and lose myself completely," she said. "And when you do that it's so much more gratifying as an actor."
