Hanks files lawsuit over 'Greek Wedding'

Tom Hanks / David Gabber

Tom Hanks has claimed that he is owed profits from 2002 movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

The Oscar-winning actor produced the film with his wife Rita Wilson, Gary Coetzman, and the movie's writer Nia Vardalos, who also starred as Toula Portokalos in the romantic comedy. They claim that film production company Gold Circle Films, which helped to develop the movie, has deliberately withheld profits that are owed to them.

The lawsuit states that the company "has acted willfully, maliciously and in wanton disregard of plaintiffs' rights under the agreements."

My Big Fat Greek Wedding cost $5 million to make, and grossed almost $370 million worldwide. The plaintiffs have not specified the amount of money that they allege they are owed.
