Matt Greenhalgh, who wrote a biopic about Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis, has decided to now write a movie about Beatles legend John Lennon.

The Mancunian scriptwriter wrote Control about music icon Curtis and will be releasing the film in October.

Now he is planning to make a film about Lennon which will follow his teenage years in Liverpool.

Greenhalgh told the Manchester Evening News: "The film is called Lennon and details John's adolescent years, pre-Beatlemania.

"It came to me off the back of Control - the producers of Lennon saw Control and then asked me if I'd consider doing their script for them.

"It wasn't a particularly hard decision for me to say yes."
