The Accordian will be based on the Italian movie Bread and Tulips, telling the story of a woman who gets stuck on a golf tour, forcing her to reassess her life.
The film is being directed by Norman Jewsion who worked on The Thomas Crown Affair. Moonstruck writer John Patrick Shanley has been put in charge of the script.
Jewison told LA.com: "I'm working on the screenplay now with John, and Felicity wants to do it. It's a very funny, touching romantic comedy."
Talking about possible alterations from the original movie, he commented: "In the Italian film the setting was Venice, but we're changing Venice to New Orleans post-Katrina.
"Every film has a place and an ambiance, and it's very important because the setting and where it takes place is part of the story, so the city is very involved in the film."
