Quentin Tarantino has turned down an opportunity to direct the movie version of Hawaii Five-O because he thinks the series "sucks".
Warner Bros suggested the Pulp Fiction filmmaker helm the big-screen adaptation of the '70s crime drama, which starred Jack Lord and James MacArthur as Hawaii police detectives.
Tarantino said: "My producing partner at the time Lawrence Bender was hanging out with some dude from Fox or Warners or whatever, and they said I should stop working on what I was doing, because I'd be so into this.
"I tried to watch the old TV show, but it sucks. I don't even like Hawaii."
The cult series ended in 1980 after a 12-year run.
