Tobey Maguire has reportedly signed up to appear in a movie adaptation of sci-fi series Robotech.
Robotech was the result of three Japanese anime series combining together, telling the story of a set of pilots who are trying to defend the earth from alien attacks.
Warner Bros, which has bought the rights to the series, is planning on making the anime into a blockbuster franchise with Maguire at the helm, according to the Hollywood Reporter
The Spider-Man actor commented: "We are very excited to bring Robotech to the big screen. There is a rich mythology that will be a great foundation for a sophisticated, smart and entertaining film."
