Oscar-winning actress and Dreamgirls star Jennifer Hudson has signed up to join the cast of the upcoming Sex and the City movie.
According to Variety, the former American Idol contestant will play the assistant to Sarah Jessica Parker's character, Carrie Bradshaw.
Stars of the TV series, Kim Catrall, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Chris Noth will be reunited with Parker in the film.
Shooting for the movie is due to begin on September 19 in New York.
