Zoe Saldana has been lined up to play the new Uhura in the upcoming 11th Star Trek movie.
The actress is currently shooting James Cameron sci-fi epic Avatar and has recently finished filming Vantage Point, alongside Forest Whitaker and Dennis Quaid.
Anton Yelchin has also signed up to join the cast as a young Chekov, while Leonard Nimoy will reprise his original role of Spock, with Zachary Quinto playing the young Spock.
It has not yet been revealed what the new film's plot will be, but the Hollywood Reporter claims the focus will be on the early days of the crew on the USS Enterprise.
Filming is due to begin this autumn and will be directed by JJ Abrams.
