Adams, who plays a singing princess in the upcoming Disney movie Enchanted, said that she doesn't plan to sign any record contracts, but admitted that she had enough vocal talent to challenge the 'Gimme More' singer.
She said: "I think pop music is not my forte. There's probably not a pop album on the way."
However, when asked whether Spears could relax, she added: "Well actually I can probably compete with Britney."
The film's directer Kevin Lima admitted that he was shocked at how adaptable his cast members were for the musical scenes, revealing that he had been prepared to use alternative voices if they weren't up to scratch.
Lima said: "They were such a revelation. I went through the casting process not asking people if they could sing. I thought, well if they can't make that happen, that's fine. There are other ways to solve that problem.
"Then I was so amazingly surprised when I actually got the tape, we were just blown away at these two actors, with incredible, incredible craft."
