'American Gangster' debuts at UK No.1

American Gangster has gone straight into the UK box office chart at number one this week.

Beowulf also made its first appearance, entering in second place, while Brick Lane was the only other new entry just making it into the top ten.

Last week's number one Good Luck Chuck slipped down into fifth place and Stardust dropped down into fourth position.
