Naomi Watts has reportedly signed up to star opposite Tom Hanks in the upcoming prequel to The Da Vinci Code.
The film will be an adaptation of Dan Brown's book Angels and Demons and the New York Post claims the King Kong actress has been cast in a leading part.
Watts' representatives have not yet commented on the reports.
Ron Howard will direct the film, but it will not be seen in cinemas until May 2009 due to the US writers' strike affecting its shooting schedule.
Watts is currently appearing in thriller Eastern Promises.
