Biographer Alan Parker has been asked to make the "ultimate" movie about late Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious.
The 42-year-old, who has written three books about Vicious, was approached by Ipso Facto films to direct Who Killed Nancy?, a docu-drama about the punk icon's life.
Vicious - real name John Simon Ritchie - died of a heroin overdose in February 1979. He was awaiting trial for the murder of ex-girlfriend Nancy Spungen, who was stabbed to death the previous October.
Parker was a friend of Ritchie's mother Anne Beverley, who discovered her dead son in bed in a New York hotel room. He said: "I have strong views on [1986 biopic] Sid And Nancy so I wanted to make the ultimate, last word movie. It will be 100 minutes of facts and at the end we're going to turn round and let the audience be the jury."
The film is scheduled to begin shooting this month.
