He claimed to be a fan of the 1984 classic underdog story, which starred Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita, and said he would take any role on the movie as long as it fits in his schedule.
The Hong Kong-born producer told Moviehole: "I'm very fond of The Karate Kid and would love to join in the remake project, no matter as a producer, director or actor.
"But it depends on my schedule. As you know, next year I will work on two movies, Dragon Ball and Journey to the West."
Chow is famed for his work on comedy action films such as Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer.
It was reported in September that Will Smith's son Jaden Christopher Syre was being lined up to star in an updated version of the martial arts movie.
