'Atonement' bags seven Globe nominations
Atonement has been nominated for seven gongs at the 2008 Golden Globe Awards.

The British film, based on the novel by Ian McEwan, is up for the Best Film Drama, Best Screenplay and Best Original Score accolades.

The movie's stars James McAvoy and Keira Knightley are also nominated for the Best Actor and Best Actress awards.

Also up for the Best Film Drama award are Ridley Scott's American Gangster and George Clooney's Michael Clayton.

The Golden Globes are handed out annually by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and are often presumed to be a good indication of what will be nominated for Oscars.
