Ritchie's 'Revolver' flops in US

The 2005 film took just under £40,000 ($75,000) in its first 12 days of release earlier this month.
It had been re-edited for the US market, but celebrity columnist Roger Friedman branded it a "terrible film in its new state," adding that it made "the same amount of money Madonna spends on, let's say, mascara".
He wrote: "It was roundly panned by every reviewer who had a chance to see it. Madonna and Ritchie attended the mostly ignored mini-premiere here in New York, but that didn't help, either. Revolver died on the vine."
He added: "Guy Ritchie may be a lovely person, for all I know, but a great director he is not. Still, thanks to Madonna's efforts, he persists in getting work."
The film was given a limited release in the US after failing to find a major distributor. It fared little better at cinemas in the UK in 2005, opening in second place at the box office before quickly slipping off the chart.
It was voted the worst film of the year in a poll by DVD rental company LoveFilm.com.
