Daniel Radcliffe will play a photographer who was stoned to death in Somalia in a new movie.

Journey, about civil war in the African country, will be Radcliffe's most serious role yet.

He will play Dan Eldon - one of four journalists killed in the attack in 1993.

Top Hollywood actors reportedly wanted the role but Eldon's family opted for Radcliffe.

His mother Kathy said: "We resisted a lot of older actors because Dan was a boy emerging into manhood."
