An Indian production company is planning to make a movie based on the life of late Pakistani politician Benazir Bhutto.

Bhutto was assassinated in a suicide bomb attack last week, two weeks before the Pakistani general election was due to take place, for which she was a leading candidate.

Vishesh Films in Mumbai has revealed that a script for the epic is already underway.

Director Mukesh Bhatt said: "Yes, the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has approached us with the idea. The party members connect with our sensibilities and trust us to do justice to the persona of Benazir Bhutto.

"It will require extensive research. We'll need to interact with several different people who knew Benazir very closely on a one-to-one basis."

But he claimed that they need to do a lot of work yet before they think about casting the lead role, adding: "We'll start thinking about the casting only after the final draft of the script is approved. It's early days yet."
