Movie stars including Best Actress nominee Keira Knightley are apparently in line to boycott the Golden Globes in support of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike.

Knightley, 22, is nominated for Atonement but has reportedly announced that she will not attend Sunday's ceremony.

American members of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), including many Hollywood stars, are also expected to stay away in support of the WGA which plans to picket the event.

Alan Rosenberg, SAG president, commented: "There appears to be unanimous agreement that Golden Globes actor nominees will not cross picket lines."

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, organiser of the Globes, has been negotiating with the WGA to win its support for the event. President Jorge Camara said: "We are making every effort to work out a solution."
