High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale is to make her big-screen debut in a new adventure comedy.

20th Century Fox's They Came From Upstairs tells the story of a group of teenagers battling to stop aliens invading their US holiday home.

Honeymooners director John Schultz will helm the project, which starts filming in Auckland, New Zealand at the end of the month.

Tisdale will shoot the comedy before starting work on the third movie in the hit Disney franchise, in which she plays rich girl Sharpay Evans.

The 22-year-old underwent nose surgery to treat a deviated nasal septum last month.
