'Casino Royale'
The 22nd instalment of the franchise is set in Austria, Italy and South America and follows on directly from Casino Royale.
Details of the plot were revealed at the launch day at London's Pinewood Studios, where the movie is being shot.
It sees Daniel Craig's 007 discover that love interest Vesper was being blackmailed when she betrayed him in the previous film.
Ukrainian-born Bond Girl Olga Kurylenko plays the "dangerously alluring" Camille, who leads him to businessman Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric).
Greene is desperate to control some of the world's natural resources and arranges to stage a coup to return an exiled South American general to power.
Kurylenko revealed: "James Bond is after revenge, and Camille is after revenge… They have slightly different goals, but in the end they are going to have to collaborate."
St Trinian's star Gemma Arterton will take the role of Agent Fields, an MI6 agent working at the British consulate in Bolivia.
Producer Michael G Wilson said: "There's much more action in this film compared to the last film. There's probably twice as much action sequences. It's pretty much jam-packed. Marc [Forster, director] has brought a lot of humanity to the characters, which makes it a very intriguing story to go with the action."
Quantum of Solace is the name of an Ian Fleming short story in the For Your Eyes Only collection.
The film is due for release in the UK on November 7.
