Cage responds to Turner accusations

Nicolas Cage has hit back at Kathleen Turner's claims that he caused constant problems on the set of 1986 comedy Peggy Sue Got Married.

The actress wrote in her autobiography Send Yourself Roses that Cage was obsessed with proving that he had not been given the role just because director Francis Ford Coppola was his uncle.

She commented: "Everything Francis wanted him to do, he went against to show that he wasn't under his uncle's wing. Which was ridiculous. Oh, that stupid voice of his and the fake teeth! Honestly, I cringe to think about it. He caused so many problems."

She also accused him of being arrested for drunk-driving and stealing a chihuahua.

However, Cage told PageSix that Turner's recollection of events was not to be trusted, saying: "While I recall Kathleen Turner being a great lady and wonderful actress, the credibility of her biography and her memory is at stake... Fact credibility should have been exercised on [her] part."
