Jason Statham has revealed that he would love to star in a remake of cult movie The Crow.

The original 1994 film starred Brandon Lee as Eric Draven, a guitarist brought back to life by a crow to seek revenge a year after he and his fiancée are murdered.

The movie caused controversy before its release when Lee was killed in a prop gun accident while filming.

Statham is keen to play Drazen in the new version of the film, which is based on a comic book by James O'Barr.

He said: "There's talk of them redoing The Crow. That was a good movie. So, if that one comes my way, bang!

"There's so many comic book movies out there and most of the time there's only a handful of people who can do them any justice. Hopefully, they'll come my way for one of them."

Statham became known for playing tough-guy roles after starring in films such as Snatch, The Transporter and War.
