Joe Johnston has been confirmed as the director for the remake of classic 1941 horror film The Wolfman.

He replaces Mark Romanek, who pulled out of the project over creative differences last week, according to Variety.

Johnston's previous movies have included Hidalgo and Jurassic Park III.

The movie is due to start shooting in London next month.

Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins and Charlie Wilson's War star Emily Blunt are expected to take the lead roles in the film.
