Brand, Harding for new Carry On film?

Russell Brand and Girls Aloud's Sarah Harding have been linked to roles in a new Carry On movie.

According to the Daily Star, the pair have been approached to take leading roles in Carry On To The Next Round, which is based around the goings-on behind the scenes on a reality TV show in the style of X Factor.

Brand's character would be similar to Simon Cowell, while Harding would play a contestant called Viv, who attracts Brand's attention with her good looks.

"Lots of stars have been sent scripts for Carry On To The Next Round," said a source.

"It’s a typical romantic comedy based on three judges who bicker constantly but one of them falls for a contestant.

"Russell’s role would be very much based on Simon Cowell’s outspoken character on X Factor.

"The fab film will be a real feel-good romp complete with brilliant comedy and some of the old-school-style original gags. Russell’s character will be integral to the plot, and is hilarious."

Harding and Brand appeared onscreen together in St Trinian's last year.

Other actors linked to the Carry On film include Big Brother's Big Mouth presenter Mathew Horne and The Office star Martin Freeman.
