Desperate Housewives star Jesse Metcalfe has landed a role in a remake of 1956 drama Beyond a Reasonable Doubt.

The Foresight Unlimited movie stars Michael Douglas and Amber Tamblyn and will be written and directed by Peter Hyams (Timecop, The Relic).

The plot focuses on a journalist who sets himself up as a murder suspect in a bid to demonstrate the unreliability of circumstantial evidence.

The original RKO film featured Dana Andrews and Joan Fontaine and was the last US offering from legendary filmmaker Fritz Lang.

Shooting is scheduled to begin on March 3.
