The film was based on the first book in Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy but the actress said she had not been informed of any plans to adapt the remaining two.
The movie, starring Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig, did not perform as well as expected in the US, although it was a hit in Europe.
The 13-year-old, who played the lead role of Lyra Belacqua, told Teletext: "I think they are going to see how it does when it opens in Japan.
"It's set in Oxford so it is going to be better received here."
The film was slammed by the Catholic Church for "promoting a cold and hopeless world without God".
