Brand turns 'Booky Wook' into film

Russel Brand's autobiography My Booky Wook will be turned into a film, with the writer cast in the lead role.

According to Daily Mail, the comedian has teamed up with director Michael Winterbottom and producer Andrew Eaton to write the screenplay.

Eaton said: "I don't think it will be called 'My Filmy Wilm'. We'll see how much we can get away with in the film."

The movie will reportedly explore the psychological roots of Brand's past addictions to drugs and sex.

The Radio Two DJ's book has sold half a million copies since it was released last autumn.

Brand has recently appeared on the big screen in St Trinian's and will star in Kristen Bell's comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall in the summer.

The movie is expected to start shooting at the end of of the year or in early 2009.
