Stallone denies 'Rambo' is gratuitous

In response to claims that the bloodshed in Rambo is gratuitous, the actor said: "As horrific and bloody as you think the film is, I don't, because that's what war is."
Stallone argued that horror films are more responsible for exploiting violence on screen.
"Gratuitous violence is a guy dressed up in a fright wig with a meat cleaver chasing ten teenagers around the woods for ten hours. That's gratuitous, this [Rambo] is war. And civil war is by far the most vicious of all wars," he added.
Rambo debuted at number two in the US box office last month and The Weinstein Company is already making plans to produce a fifth franchise entry despite Stallone saying he "can't go any further".
Rambo is released in the UK on February 22.
