Wilson will star opposite Jennifer Aniston in the comedy Marley & Me, which begins filming on March 10.
The film centres on a couple and their relationship with an uncontrollable Labrador Retriever.
The 39-year-old was hospitalised last August after he allegedly tried to take his own life. He later requested that he be allowed to "heal in private".
Wilson's hits include Wedding Crashers, Starsky and Hutch and The Life Aquatic.
