Three join Scorsese's 'Shutter Island'

Max von Sydow, Emily Mortimer and Jackie Earle Haley have joined the cast of Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Michelle Williams and Patricia Clarkson already have roles in the film.

Based on Dennis Lehane's novel, the film focuses on US marshals Teddy Daniels and Chuck Aule (played by DiCaprio and Ruffalo), who investigate the disappearance of a patient from a hospital for the criminally insane.

Von Sydow will play one of the hospital's doctors while Mortimer is Rachel, the escaped patient. Haley will play an inmate.

The Paramount movie begins production on March 6.
