World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has agreed a regular movie distribution deal with 20th Century Fox.

WWE Films will release one movie at theatres and four straight-to-DVD features each year from 2009.

The deal is similar to the agreement between Marvel Entertainment and Paramount over the forthcoming Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk movies.

Wrestler John Cena will star in the first film under the new deal called 12 Rounds. Shooting on the movie begins in New Orleans in March.

The company is planning to spend $20 million on cinema releases and between $3-5 million on DVD productions.

Since 2002 the company has produced three movies, See No Evil starring Glen 'Kane' Jacobs, The Condemned featuring Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Marine with Cena.
