Speaking to US TV show Entertainment Tonight, the Democratic presidential candidate said: "Will and I have talked about the idea of him playing me because he has the same ears as me! He would be perfect."
Smith had previously expressed a desire to be America's first black President, saying: "Barack Obama stole my idea. That's OK with me. Barack can go first and then I'll take my turn."
However, the actor later said he was misquoted regarding his political ambitions.
"I have no desire to be President of the United States. That comes from when I spoke to someone and told them I could be the President if that's what I wanted to do.
"It's not that it's out of my grasp, it's that I don't want to [be the President]."
