Gervais, Merchant write 'Men at the Pru'

Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant will reunite to work on a film.

The Office creators are collaborating on The Men at the Pru, a "coming of age" tale about 20-somethings in the early '70s.

Gervais told Radio 1: "They work for the building society and they're having a great time but it's about them coming of age and having to grow up."

The Extras star admitted he was excited about working with Merchant again.

"We went down to the Prudential headquarters and got all this old footage so we're really getting into it."

Gervais will shift his focus fully to The Men at the Pru once he's completed work on This Side of the Truth, a comedy set in a world where lying is impossible.

Jennifer Garner, Rob Lowe and Jason Bateman star with Gervais, who will also co-write and direct the film.

"I'm worried because it's a Hollywood movie and you don't get many chances to screw up with Hollywood. But I also prefer being in charge than not.

"I like to give myself enough rope... I want to live and die by the sword."
