A modern-day remake of hit '80s film The Breakfast Club, titled Bumped, is to be made.

The comedy drama focuses on five twenty-somethings who become stranded at Chicago's O'Hare Airport when their flight is bumped.

Bridget Johnson will produce the film with first-timer Anna Mastra directing. Lizzy Weiss (Blue Crush) wrote the script.

Bumped will be financed independently and sold to a studio later.

John Hughes's The Breakfast Club made a significant cultural impact - pushing Simple Minds' theme song 'Don't You (Forget About Me)' to number one in the US charts - and was voted the best high school movie of all time by Entertainment Weekly.

The original film starred Brat Packers Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, Anthony Michael Hall, Ally Sheedy and Molly Ringwald.
