The film revolves around a time capsule buried in 1962 that contains the dates of the assassinations of historical leaders, the hotel fire that kills the wife of Cage's professor and a forthcoming apocalypse.
Byrne plays the daughter of the woman who buried the capsule and is alerted to its existence by Cage's character.
I, Robot's Alex Proyas will direct from Ryan Douglas Pearson's script, which was revised by Juliet Snowden, Stiles White, Stuart Hazeldine and Proyas.
Knowing begins production in Melbourne, Australia on March 25.
