The Rock keen to play Bond villain

Rex Features

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has revealed that he wants to play the villain in a James Bond movie.

The former wrestler said he would love to star in the franchise despite vowing to move away from his previous tough-guy roles.

He is quoted as saying: "I would love to be a Bond baddie. I am a big fan of the films."

The 35-year-old will star in Fox's The Tooth Fairy and voice a character in new animated film Planet 51.

He previously starred in The Scorpion King, Welcome to the Jungle and Southland Tales.

This would be the perfect role for Dwayne. If there ever was a role for him, I think this would be it. As a bad guy in wrestling he was gold! He plays the bad guy great and can really make you love to hate him!

Well he did play a sort of bad guy in the game-turned-movie Doom. But honestly, I don't think I could see him as a villain... he wouldn't be able to carry it off, in my opinion. Cast him in a funny role, i.e. comedian, then he excels.
