The Muppets return to the big screen

Disney is to bring the Muppets back to the big screen, Variety reports.
Actor-writer Jason Segal and Nick Stoller will pen the screenplay. Stoller has been hired to direct.
The pair, who met on Judd Apatow-produced TV show Freaks and Geeks, recently worked together on Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
In that film, which is released in the UK on April 25, Segel's character writes a Dracula musical inspired by the Muppets. The cloth creatures were created by Jim Henson's workshop and it prompted Segel and Stoller to pitch their own Muppets movie to Disney.
The Muppets have appeared in seven theatrical films, starting with 1979's The Muppet Movie. The last film was 1999's Muppets from Space.
Segel and Stoller recently signed a deal with Universal to make the comedy Five-Year Engagement.
