Carry On London, the 32nd entry in the famous British comedy film series, may be filmed and released by the end of the year, the BBC reports.
A spokeswoman for the company behind the film confirmed that the script has received the green light.
The film revolves around a limousine hire service taking various celebrities to the Herberts, Britain's version of the Oscars.
Former EastEnders and Extras star Shaun Williamson had previously been lined up to play limo driver Dickie Ticker but dropped out when the film was delayed in 2004.
Williamson's agent said at the time: "It was such a shame it didn't go ahead as planned because the script was absolutely marvellous - very funny and clever."
Vinnie Jones, Shane Richie and Danniella Westbrook have also been linked to the new Carry On movie.
Producers hope to release Carry On London by the end of the year to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the comedy series.
The last film, Carry On Columbus, was released in 1992 and starred Julian Clary, Jim Dale and June Whitfield.
