Kevin Lima will direct Spook's Apprentice for Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures, reports Variety.
Spook's Apprentice, a film that previously interested Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, is based on Joseph Delaney's children's novel about 13-year-old Tom Ward who is mentored in wizardry by an old spook. Delaney's book is the first in the Wardstone Chronicles series.
1408's Matt Greenberg has penned the Spook's script.
Lima is a former animator who mixed live-action footage with animation in last year's Disney hit Enchanted. He has previously directed Tarzan and 102 Dalmatians.
