Bob Marley film in music rights row
Published Tuesday, Mar 25 2008, 15:18 GMT | By Simon Reynolds

No Woman No Cry, which will be executive produced by Marley's widow Rita, is being opposed by other family members because their policy is to block his music being used in any works where an actor portrays Marley.
Instead, the Marley family are backing a documentary directed by Martin Scorsese but are concerned that the Weinstein movie, scheduled for release in 2009, will clash with the Departed director's 2010 documentary.
"We have great respect for the Marley family and we are in discussions to look at ways to mutually benefit both projects," said Matthew Frankel, a spokesman for the Weinstein Company.
