Tobey Maguire to produce 'Afterburn'

Tobey Maguire is to take on another comic book adaptation with sci-fi adventure Afterburn, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Spider-Man star will co-produce the project with Neil Moritz, whose previous credits include the Fast and the Furious franchise.

The movie unfolds against the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic Earth, much of which has been destroyed by a solar flare. It tells the story of a group of treasure hunters who capture valued items such as the Mona Lisa and the Crown Jewels while battling rival hunters, mutants and pirates.

The comic book, from Canadian publisher Red 5 Comics, first hit stands in January.

Maguire is also producing a live-action adaptation of the anime classic Robotech.
