Bakula signs for Soderbergh's 'Informant'

Scott Bakula has agreed to star in The Informant, a spy thriller for Steven Soderbergh and Warner Independent Pictures, Variety reports.

The film, based on a true story, revolves around an FBI agent who uncovers a price-fixing scheme for the food additive lysine with the help of whistleblower Mark Whitacre.

Matt Damon is already on board to play the biochemist Whitacre, while Bakula will star as government agent Brian Shepherd.

Scott Burns wrote the script based on Kurt Eichenwald's book.

Bakula is known for his TV roles in Quantum Leap and Enterprise. He has also appeared in American Beauty.
