Affleck, who was nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category for The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, told Metro: "I don’t give a s***. More often than not, the wrong movies are nominated and the wrong movies win."
The 32-year-old, who is Ben Affleck's younger brother, feels the ceremony is focusing less on films as an art and more on creating competitive rivalry.
"I go between thinking the whole thing is a waste of time to thinking it’s nice that people want to celebrate what they do," Affleck said. "It’s just become a TV show and a tool to advertise films; it’s turned into something it shouldn’t be."
Affleck also admitted he finds acting difficult: "There are some people who make it look easy, but I’m not like that. It’s very hard for me, especially working with Brad Pitt. I didn’t want to be the weak link."
