Righetti cast in 'Friday' remake

Amanda Righetti is to star as the female lead in Friday the 13th, reports Variety.

Righetti joins Supernatural's Jared Padalecki and Derek Mears in the cast of Marcus Nispel's remake. The film will be produced by Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes company, which has overseen new versions of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Hitcher.

Righetti has appeared in the TV shows The OC, Entourage and the short-lived Reunion. She recently signed up for the CBS pilot The Mentalist.

The new Friday movie will be released on February 13, 2009.
