Perez: 'Sex scenes were very awkward'

Rex Features

Rosie Perez has claimed sex scenes in her new movie The Take were very awkward to film.

The actress said pretending to be romantic with friend John Leguizamo was one of the toughest challenges she's faced in her career.

Perez compared the raunchy onscreen exercise to a "brother and sister" having sex.

Speaking to the Associated Press, she said: "This is not my first time working with John, we are friends....It was very easy working with him. We have an easy dialogue and between each other there is no ego, no competition

"It was in the sex scene between husband and wife that things started to go bad...It was the hardest scene, very difficult.

"I respect him so much and he respects me so much. I know his wife, he knew my husband and introduced me to my boyfriend. It was very awkward. Like brother and sister having to do a sex scene."

The Take opens in America this week.
