Advance screenings of Uwe Boll's forthcoming comedy movie Postal have earned it praise from three US critics.

The movie, which is due out May 23, is based on the video game of the same name and stars Zack Ward as the Postal Dude alongside Austin Powers's Mini Me Verne Troyer and Seinfeld's Soup Nazi Larry Thomas.

US website Times Square Gossip said: "Postal will take you back to all the laughs you had as a teen. I haven't seen a movie this funny since then, with the audience yelling and falling on the floor laughing.”

Michael J. Hein, director of The New York City Horror Film Festival, added: “Postal is the funniest film of the year…hands down!”

And Postal fan Tara Jarvis, who attended the Chicago preview, wrote: "[My husband and] I laughed so hard I almost wet my pants and he had tears in his eyes. It was awesome!”

The film's opening scene has caused controversy in the US as it depicts a terrorist-led jet flying into the World Trade Centre, reminiscent of the September 11, 2001 attack.

A Postal III video game is currently in development for PC and Xbox 360 and is due for release later this year.
