Quentin Tarantino is to give the cinema masterclass lecture at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

The 45-year-old will discuss his experiences as a director and screenwriter at the event, which runs from May 14 to 25.

Tarantino won the 2004 Palme d'Or for Pulp Fiction and headed the Cannes jury that year.

Organisers said he would speak about his "professional experiences... with all the spark and enthusiasm for film we know and love him for".

The festival lineup will be announced on April 23, with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull rumoured to be among films having their world premiere.

Previous speakers include Martin Scorsese, Stephen Frears, Nanni Moretti, Wong Kar Wai and Sydney Pollack.
