Lee, Schamus head to 'Woodstock'
Ang Lee and James Schamus will reunite on the Focus Features drama Taking Woodstock.

The film will be based on Elliot Tiber's memoir Taking Woodstock: A True Story of a Riot, Concert, and a Life, co-written with Tom Monte.

Taking place during the summer of 1969, the story follows a man who sets in motion a chain of events that leads to the launch of the counterculture Woodstock festival.

Schamus told Variety: "Elliot's exuberant and heartfelt story is a perfect window onto the Woodstock experience. It explores an inspiring historical moment when liberation and freedom were in the air."

The film, which will feature an ensemble cast, will begin production this year with a budget between the $5 million - $10 million mark.

Lee and Schamus have worked together on ten films, including Brokeback Mountain, Hulk and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The most recent collaboration, Lust, Caution, was directed by Lee and co-written and produced by Schamus.
